COLOR MIXING AND MATCHING
COURSE
University of Delaware, ARTC 185
ARTC 185 is a class of the Undergraduate Conservation Program at the University of Delaware that allows students to begin the practice of the skill of color mixing and matching. This course was particularly exciting for me as I am interested in paintings conservation. Assignments included matching swatches of color, the tratteggio technique, painting from life, and practice inpainting with PVA paints 80% alcohol and 20% diacetone.

COLOR MATCHING
After the lecture, the class allows us to begin our assignments. A very exciting assignment was the color matching utilizing oil paint and a spatula. We were assigned random color swatches and our task was to match the color as accurately as possible
TRATTEGGIO
After the lecture, the class allows us to begin our assignments. A very interesting assignment was the practice of a not-so-common practice of inpainting-- the tratteggio technique. This consisted of inpainting on losses utilizing oil paints just to get comfortable with the technique.

Our final assignment was to complete inpainting on an old practice painting. To complete this assignment, I utilized conservation PVA paints in 80% alcohol 20% diacetone, and a thin brush. This process required some getting used to but once I got the hang of it, I was able to inpaint the losses.
