ABOUT ME

I grew up in the small municipality of Cidra, Puerto Rico. I came to the University of Delaware in pursuit of a Bachelor's in Art Conservation and Art History. During my time as a conservation student, I have interned at several institutions. Before my time at UD, I was fortunate to spend the summer interning at the Anton J. Konrad Center for Conservation, mainly working as a painting conservation intern. I also got the chance to shadow pre-program students during their book conservation Fellowship at the center. Since then, I have gotten the chance to condition report and treat several objects such as ceramics, glass, paintings, and wooden objects at the University of Delaware under the Art Conservation Department.
During my last semester of undergrad, I interned at the Winterthur Museum Garden & Library. This internship is focused on paintings conservation in which I treated a 20th-century landscape painting and documented the process. From my conservation experience, I have gained invaluable knowledge and skills in safe caring and handling, rehousing, documenting, treating, cataloging, and condition reporting. Aside from hands-on experience, I am also passionate about conservation outreach. One of my most valuable experiences came from serving as a teaching assistant for Debra Hess Norris, director of the Winterthur/UD Program in Art Conservation at the Preservation of Photographic Collections Workshop at the Archivo General de Puerto Rico (General Archives in San Juan, Puerto Rico). This great experience taught me how to rescue photographs from natural disasters as well as clean and housing for photographs. I was also tasked with facilitating the hands-on aspect of the workshop for attendees. Additionally, I spoke on the panel of ECPN Puerto Rico at the Fellowships and Internships from the Latinx Perspective Live Zoom Session in December of 2021. I spoke about my experience as a Latinx emerging conservation professional and my senior thesis: Art Conservation Ethics in Cultural Institutions in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands: Damage Prevention from Natural Disasters.

Currently, I am a Post-Bacc Intern at the Getty Conservation Institute and Fellow at the Center for Conservation and Restoration in Puerto Rico (CENCOR).
